Our House is for Sale!!

I'm a bit slow in blogging about it, but we officially listed our house on the market about 2 weeks ago! So far we've had about 8 people come through on scheduled visits, 6 during an open house and 9 brokers during our broker's open house. No offers yet, but people are at least seeing it right?? Note the very nice deck, newly remodeled and much improved kitchen, the very bright basement and of course the craft room! What's not shown?? My pretty vegetable garden in the back yard and the 2 jacuzzi tubs!

If you are thinking of moving to Evanston, IL (because really who wouldn't want to move to such a fun city??) you should check out our listing! I think my favorite is the description:

LARGER THAN IT LOOKS AND LOVELY TO BOOT. BEAUTIFUL NEW KITCHEN W/CORNER WINDOW FOR PANORAMIC VIEW. HARDWOOD FLOORS AND POTTERY BARN COLORS GIVE MODERN YET WARM FEEL THROUGHOUT FULLY FINISHED LOWER LEVEL PROVIDES COMFORTABLE OPTIONS FOR FRIENDS, FUN AND HOUSE GUESTS. CLOSE TO SHOPPING AND TRANSPORTATION ON QUIET CUL-DE-SAC. THE BEST OF ALL POSSIBLE WORLDS.

Enjoy!

Our 1st Wedding Anniversary

I'm a day behind, but my husband and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary yesterday! It's amazing how much things have changed for us over the last year. No matter what has changed, I can't imagine going through any of this with anyone else. We had a great day yesterday just relaxing, going to see Legally Blonde the Musical and of course watching the DVD of our wedding (which still makes me cry!). Such great memories and I can't wait to make more!

Enjoy some of my favorite pics from our day!

Happily every after...

Scones

So last week our real estate agent had an open house for other brokers and had these wonderful cranberry scones.

Now I've never been a big fan of the scone before, but I'm betting that's because I've never had a good scone before. YUM!!

So in light of that I spent my week of vacation dreaming about scones.

Yep, got home at noon on Friday and had scones made by dinner time! With 3 sticks of butter, 4 eggs and 1 cup of heavy cream they definitely can't be good for you, but they sure do taste good!

Check out Barefoot Contessa's recipe here.

Thank you Food Network!

Back from vacation! Part 1

We made it back from a week of vacation!

We started our trip with a weekend in Milwaukee to celebrate my hubby's graduation from law school. We met at Marquette University ... oh .... maybe back in 2002?? We can't remember. We each spent 7 years going to school there, me starting in 1999 and him in 2002 so we had a lot of memories to look back on for sure. It was great to see both my parents and his as we spent the weekend celebrating with traditional Milwaukee style - all things German! We had a great dinner out at Maders and who would miss raising a pint to a polka at the Old German Beer Hall?

Graduation was great as we listened to a fantastic speech by Dick Enberg complete with a statue and quotes from the late Al McGuire. It was an emotional day for everyone. I was so proud to sit back and watch him walk across the stage with the felt strips on his robe .... blue and gold hood in hand ... and be hooded with a Juris Doctorate. Very cool :)

Ironically over the weekend both of us discovered that our camera's were busted so we made a trip out for a new camera -YAY! Hopefully my Etsy product images will get exponentially better with the new purchase.

More to come on vacation later!!

Until the next time ...

Tweet Tweet!

That's right folks, I've jumped into the Twitter world! I'm still not sure how to use Twitter or what I should exactly say on Twitter, but I'm tweeting nonetheless! After reading some posts on one of my Etsy teams about how being on Twitter has increased sales, I decided to see what it was all about.

Want to tweet with me?? I'm at http://twitter.com/lamaworksdesign

New landmark!

I just hit my 200th heart on Etsy! Who knew that 200 people would flag my store as one of their favorites?? I can't wait to see how much things will continue to grow!

Other updates:
- I'm up to 32 sales, so only 20 more to go until I reach my 1 year anniversary goal
- My total donations to the Carry On Campaign are officially at $31.89 - not bad for the first month and a half!
- Our agent is coming over tonight to sign the paperwork and we have our first open house on Tuesday - pictures to come!
- Busy weekend planting flowers - pictures to come on that too!
- I'm slacking on the Twilight reading this week due to a few order deadlines, but hope to finish the 3rd book maybe tomorrow if all of my planting gets done!

Have a great weekend and stay tuned for home updates!

Until next time ....

I must confess...

I am addicted to the Twilight book series!!

Yes ... I'm a 28 year old grown woman who has been making secret trips to the "Teen Loft" at the Evanston Public Library to scour the shelves for the next book in the teen vampire drama series Twilight.

I can't put them down! I read over my lunch break ... at night .. the weekends ... any spare time I have! I got New Moon (book #2) last week Wednesday and finished the 500 plus page book by Sunday morning. It was so bad that on our drive home from Milwaukee last Saturday night I was reading by the light of my cell phone.

They are just so fantastic though! Full of action, romance, passion, friendship, heartache. I think the best part is that each book tells you part of a story, but not enough to tell you the whole story so that you absolutely must go out the next day and get the next book.

Teen story or not, this adult is now well on her way to finishing Eclipse, quite possibly by the end of the weekend :)

Until next time ...

Carry On Campaign

Adversity is a lot easier to face when we know we don't have to face it alone. If nothing else, the Concert For Life series has shown cancer fighters that they aren't alone. Everyone knows someone who has or has had cancer. The crusade for a cure is being fought by both cancer patients and their loved ones. The Carry On Campaign encourages all of us to make the fight against cancer a year-round focus by taking the mission and message of the CFL and applying it to the other 364 days out of the year.

If cancer refuses to quit, then so should we -- in both our effort to walk with those who fight the disease and in our pursuit for a cure.

"And the fight may be uncertain. And for sure it will be hard. But we'll stand up strong and carry on. Today is the day!" (If We Walk)
